Through Another’s Eyes

By Eliana Kuteyi, Lagos Preparatory and Secondary School, Lagos Nigeria

Age: 7

If I could see through the eyes of an eagle,

I’d soar very high,

The clouds sing melodies, high and low,

Where the secrets hide below.

If I were a tree,

I’d grow so tall,

My roots sink below the grass,

And the wind howls gently in the moonlight.

If I were shoes on eager feet,

I’d eat eight angry apples for dinner,

Jump up and down on the green grass,

And sometimes will always be played with.

If I were a fish swimming in the sea,

I’d swim beneath the corals,

Always find a treasure chest,

And share it with my fishy friends.

Through another’s eyes, I start to see,

The world’s wonderful magic surrounding me!

Each of the many things I think of have only been an imagination.

Yet, I still want to explore the world.
